|Dawn on the Wairoa.
Oil on canvas (610 x 460)
Pure landscape is not normally my field but I do enjoy getting away from the need to produce exact detail. This is the first of what I hope to be a series of paintings of the tidal Wairoa River which winds up from the Tamaki Straight to the southern Auckland village of Clevedon. I know the river intimately as our 40ft. replica shoal draft trading ketch is moored some way up. This lovely dawn happened when we were going up on the tide to our berth.
