Aratapu
The brigantine Aratapu drying sails.
Watercolour (260x310)mm

The Aratapu is moored at the foot of Albert Street, across the road from the Sailor's Home.  Astern but out of view is the entrance to the graving dock.  The Aratapu was built by James Barbour at Aratapu near Dargeville in 1878; the same shipbuilder who built the famous New Zealand schooner Huia.

Painted in 1996.
